Labor Orders ("we", "us", or "the app") is a tool that lets ILA / STA Baltimore
longshore workers view labor orders, get alerts for orders matching their port,
and track their own work hours. This policy explains what information the app
collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By creating an account or
using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect what the app needs to work. This includes:
Account information — a username, your display name, and the
seniority/port number you bind to your account so we can show orders relevant to you.
Phone number (optional) — only if you opt in to SMS alerts, so we can
text you when an order matches your port. You can opt out at any time.
Push notification token — a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging,
used only to deliver push alerts to your device. It contains no message content.
Hours you log — if you use the hours tracker, the work hours, dates, and
notes you enter are stored on your account.
Technical & usage data — your IP address and basic activity (such as
when you are viewing the live orders page) are used for security, abuse prevention, and to
show administrators who is currently connected.
We do not collect your device's GPS/precise location, your contacts, your
photos, your microphone, or any data unrelated to providing this service. We do not use
advertising trackers, and we do not sell your information.
2. How We Use Your Information
To show you labor orders and highlight the ones that match your bound port.
To send the push and/or SMS alerts you have opted into.
To operate your account and the hours tracker.
To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
3. Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do not sell or rent your information. We share the minimum necessary with service
providers that help run the app:
Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
SMS provider — to deliver SMS alerts to the phone number you provide (only if you opt in).
Hosting provider — our server infrastructure, which processes requests and stores app data.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.
4. Labor Order Content
The orders shown in the app (including worker names, ports, companies, and vessels) come from
official STA / labor dispatch records and reflect work assignments. This occupational
information is displayed to authorized users of the app and is not generated or sold by us.
5. Data Retention
We keep account and hours data for as long as your account is active. Technical logs and
connection records are kept only as long as needed for security and normal operation, then
removed or rotated. When you delete your account, your personal account data is removed.
6. Security
Access to the app requires sign-in, administrative features are restricted, and data is
transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take
reasonable steps to protect your information.
7. Your Choices & Rights
Notifications — turn push or SMS alerts on or off at any time in the app or your device settings.
Access & correction — you can view and update your account details in the app.
Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us (see below).
8. Children
Labor Orders is a workplace tool intended for adult longshore workers. It is not directed to
children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated"
date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
